The promised pics..... My camera wouldn't work for me beyond the first couple pictures - which were nothing to brag about. So, she just emailed me pics from hers. THANK YOU CAROL!!

of course, I have to share them.. what else is there to do? (besides, I said I would!) Write 3000 words to make up for them? A picture IS worth a thousand words you know.... Beware. I was at the lake for 2 days with no camera, imagine the essays forthcoming on that experience. :)

here are Carol and I

The bunch of us sitting and talking (except Mark who was at work and her hubbie David who took the pics (THANKS DAVID!!!)

Very left in the blue is Jacob, her son. Then Carol and her Katie are side by side. Bria is facing the camera, then Katie and I are side by side with James a little bit behind me. Ben is leaning up on the tree. He was pretty tired - working at camp is hard work!

A different angle. We had SO much fun... somewhere there is a picture of the two Katie's. Carol and I had somewhat lost touch for a few years. During those years we gave birth to babygirls not all that far apart in age. They're both Katie's. :) They're "real" names are different, but they both go by Katie. We think thats pretty cool :)

me, again

:)
I really just haven't had much desire to write lately. Tonight my big kids are gone to see Pirates 2 with hubbie so it's just the littles and I. I'm finishing up laundry, trying to clean some more despite the heat and waiting for bed time. Had a great time at the park today with a friend I haven't seen in more than 17 yrs. Probably more like 18. Wow. We only had about an hour together, but our Katie's (about the same age) had a good time together, the boys (her Jake and my James) enjoyed playing by themselves (lol) and Brianna sat and "visited" with us, as did Ben. She has a bunch of pictures so when I get them I'll share them. :) (for my sisters and anyone else who cares, it was Carol (mackay) Churchill). It was good. Needed right now! Other than that, I mostly puttered around and did laundry in order to send Ben back to camp tomorrow, and send Katie for a week as a camper. I also need to get ready to head to the lake tomorrow with Mark and the rest of the crew from the residence. Hopefully that proves to be fun.

Back to work for now. MAybe I'll get back again? :)

Thinking…

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Something triggered my thoughts tonight and my mind just keeps taking it the next step. I'm just realizing how fortunate we are here in Canada. My dad just spent most of two weeks in the hospital, and had surgery while he was there. I see a neurologist every 6 months, at least. My daughter has a list of specialists a mile long. My bil had a massive heart attack several years ago and has had numerous medical needs since then. The list goes on and on. Not once have we had to worry about hospital bills or Dr's bills. Meds can knock us flat sometimes, but thats not so much when we stop and think about it. Yes, I realize many of my friends across the border think our social medecine sucks, and thats ok, but right now I'm realizing how very grateful I am for it. Without it I'd be stuck without the money to pay for the visits my family needs. I can't be anything but grateful for the freedom I have to get my children (and their parents) the care needed for optimum help.

Being up late at night cleaning can take my mind some interesting places. Y'all get to come along. :)

one
more

The more I read, the more I realize just how true this is. I still can't fathom it. The child can be shocked for nagging the teacher.... PWS kids are often "nags". It's part of how they're built. The very idea of shocking them for it............. Nobody wants to take me there!

PLEASE pass this site along

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

This MUST be seen by as many people as possible. There simply has to be such an outcry that this will be STOPPED. It's simply too horrific.

I want to believe it's not true but it has too much on it that lends it credit.

Pictures…

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

I've been sitting here looking through pictures and want to share some.

This one.. just because I think it's a good picture. A rarity, my dad HATES having his picture taken. It's become a game among the kids, getting a picture of grampy. :)

Here are all us kids with mom and dad. It was taken the weekend of my dads 80th birthday.

And this one just makes me laugh. James was NO happy with being there and the looks on some of the other faces are priceless. Molly sure can't figure out what his problem is, she LOVES the camera.

And thats it for now folks.
I should add.. these are my children and my younger sisters children. There are 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren missing. :)

The coffee cup

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

I've changed my background. That coffee cup reminds me of my dad. I found out tonight he has an inoperable malignant tumour. I just want to be near him, and right now I can't. So, I went looking for ways to bring reminders of him into my daily world. This is one of them.

So here's to my dad... a coffee cup for his freshly brewed tea.

Don’t mind me

I'm playing around while working on a "real" post. Goodness knows what I might do. :) I'm also TICKED that the power blinked while my "real" post was in the making. I hate re-doing work. having to wash the same dishes daily is bad eough! buwaha

Camp…

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Bria's friend Destiny.. we hear about her all the time. :) Well, her mom is a photographer. Like, a REAL photographer, not just a wanna-be like me. LOL. She just emailed me some pics she took at camp for me. Gotta love a woman like that! :)

Brianna and Destiny. Isn't this just the sweetest picture?

Today…

Friday, July 14th, 2006

My son comes home from camp for a couple days and I lose my free trial of XM Radio. I've gotten very in the habit of having my music playing almost constantly. Yes, there are other good radio stations online, but I so totally love "The Message" on XM Radio. I really want to have this. If ever I want background noise, it's contemporary Christian radio!

We pick up my son tonight around 8ish, give or take. There's some things we need to do in town so we'll run some errands while waiting for him. A friend who has a son that was a camper at camp this week is bringing him as far as town for us. We'll start the laundry process, he'll talk our ears off for a few hours then divide time between eating and sleeping. LOL Tomorrow Katelynne comes home.. whoo hooo.

Today I need to get back in gear. I had some motivated time yesterday and I must get back to that today. It feels so good to get stuff done and it's nice to enoy doing it as opposed to doing it simply because it has to be done. :)

Later taters
