Thursday, August 23rd, 2007Keyley is home :)
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007we stopped at pets unlimited on the way home for a few things (like ferret shampoo for stinky here). We were hesitant to leave her in the van alone yet so I stayed with her. I unmuzzled her to play with her ball. She LOVES squeaky toys. When I aimed the camera at her tho she dropped it. Oh, and she's already destroyed the squeaker in one of them!
the rest of the trip was spent watching the traffic go by....
I’ll be back
Tuesday, August 21st, 2007if I one day have time. James' autism is in high gear right now. As my mom says... he's in jack hammer mode. When I have 30 seconds I spent it somewhere extremely quiet where no one is touching me. Thats not here.
Tomorrow we pick up our greyhound. I'm excited and nervous. I'll stop by long enough to at least share pictures.
Bria hasn't managed to run again. The door alarm is working well. That and the fact that she doesnt' get out of our sight. Thats getting old, but what are the choices? I can't have her wandering the trans canada highway. I've just heard of dogs for wandering kids. Tempting.
Big kids are home from working at camp this summer. Life goes back to some semblance of normal soon. Not sure if I'm happy about that or not. Of course, normal for me is insane to some. amazing what becomes normal after enough years, no?
Tomorrow Bria goes to respite care. I only do one catheter! Oh the things that excite the parents of these special children.
It's off to bed for me. I'll leave you with a pic of Keyley's new kennel. Ain't it huge?
And Keyley herself of course... she's so pretty!
Goodnight!

Thursday, August 9th, 2007Meme
Thursday, August 9th, 2007Andrea is doing a meme. Or perhaps I should say she did one eeyons ago. I kinda forgot about my part in it.. oops. Well, here goes. These are questions she asked me that I'm to answer here so you, my readers, can get to know me better. Scared yet?
You should be.
GlendaLH -
1. How’s your gardening skills?
hahahahaha. They suck. However, they are improving. Can anyone guess WHY? An entire acre of flowers. I kid you not. Ask Andrea how much time one would need to garden to keep this place up. I'm trying... sorta... really! She needs to come visit me.
2. Can you explain prader-willi syndrome for my readers?
hoo boy. Well, it's a problem with genes, she's supposed to have an "x" and a "y" and instead she has two "x"'s. thats an overly simplified explanation, but it's easiest to understand too! The symptoms? she requires half the food of an average person, she gains weight VERY quickly if she eats more than that - and yet she never feels full. The "button" that tells us we are full doesn't work for her. Satiation is never reached in her mind. She would eat until her stomach exploded. Most PWS children who get a chance to be with food unsupervised choke to death as they stuff it in SO fast, trying to get as much as they can before they get caught. Food must be locked up or well out of reach. And she will climb. PWS also causes learnign disabilities sometimes and for Brianna it has. any questions? Just ask! I don't mind talking about it at all.
3. I know you’re going on vacation to the lake - where would you go if money were no object?
honestly? Likely still to the lake!
4. What do you want to do when you grow up?
a grandma!!!!!
5. What outing do you and I (and/or the kids) need to go on? And will they kick us out when we get there?
definately on the latter... specially if we take Sarah and Ben... ROFL. As to what outing.. Hmmmm.... Yogi Bear? Kids can slide, we can sit and yack... upriver to that second hand clothing place.. (minus kids, please, at least mine, J is NOT fun in those places. Yours can come!) To my backyard to the pool (I promise not to kick you out. Or should I be so free with that promise.. hmmm) I'm not coming up with anything brilliant. any ideas? I'd LIKE to say Magic Mountain. Or Crystal Palace....
