Oops
Sunday, February 17th, 2008The drivers ed instructor came to pick up Ben this afternoon. Before she could let him drive away for their lesson however, he and Mark had to help her out...
Thats the third car/van to get stuck in the snowbank in our driveway this winter!
EDIT: It only happens to those who seem to think they must BACK in. Pay no attention to the effort we put into shovelling out a turn around space so one can drive in and drive out! hello, we don't do that for the sheer fun of shovelling all this snow!
Fun times at my house
Friday, February 15th, 2008Ice and snow
Friday, February 15th, 2008we've got lots of it. It's rather pretty if only it wasn't so trecherous. Ok, so I'm spelling that wrong. Whats wrong with it? Someone let me know? lol
some pics..
a closer up of the ice on the post... It's so thick
Icicles hanging on the clothelines..
Tucked inside where it's warm and toasty..
and they appreciate it as Katie is the one to take Keyley out to do her pottying most of the time!
Today it's snowing again. It just never ends!
Prader Willi Syndrome
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008so tell me readers mine, how many of you are at all familiar with prader willi syndrome? I'm putting together some information for leaders at our church, those in whose care I will be leaving my daughter for short periods of time (I think) and it has occured to me that maybe I should share this here, too. Living with prader willi is not a simple thing. When you combine it with spina bifida it gets a little bit more complicated, but at least spina bifida is familiar to people.
so, without googling it, what do YOU think prader willi syndrome entails? I'm taking guesses.
ding dong
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008the doorbell rang and I left my computer to send off the extra kids I babysit. I walked back to my computer - where I was at 600 words of the 1000 I needed for an article and it was off. How very weird I thought. Thankful I had saved my work I blamed the kids or pets for hitting my power button and reached down to turn it back on. Nothing happened. Odd. I poked around a little and realized there was no power coming TO my computer. How very odd! A little further exploration led to discovering no power to the microwave, coffee maker, cd player in the kitchen. The telephone in the dining room, heater, and the list goes on. Very random things it seemed! I went downstairs to check the breakers and discovered one light that didn't work. Just one!
well, it wasn't a breaker. so then I went to the fuse box and was finally able to find a fuse that was black and icky. It looked suspiciously like the one that blew and would likely be the problem so I unscrewed it and screwed a new one in. bang, pop, snap, all sorts of noise - and another black fuse. Not to mention a SHOCK that got me good. Uhhh.. no. I wasn't going to be able to fix this! I called the electricians and he said he's be here in a few minutes. well, yeah. Two hours later I called back because it was getting to be nearly closing time for offices and I did NOT want to be paying after hour fees. I HAD to have it fixed however because we'd discovered the fridge was without power too! they finally arrived and replaced the fuse holder thingie. He wired it to a different place, popped in a new fuse and we're good to go. I'm not sure what this is going to cost us and I don't know that I am ready to know!
Somehow our dinky little doorbell took enough power to set this whole chain of events off. it must have been just waiting to happen. I'm glad it's fixed!
The 400 words are written, pictures taken, article done for another month. I'm so glad I learned a long time ago to save frequently!
and now - it's off to clean that ole bedroom. I must get RID of stuff. I have too much..
mardi gras
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008so today we made masks and the kids are having fun wearing beads. Of course Camryn keeps putting hers on without doubling them up so they end up around her legs AND neck. Cute, but not such a good idea when you spend a lot of time running. The masks are drying. when you use copious amounts of sparkle glue it takes some time. I'm thinking probably days? LOL We haven't put the feathers or sequins on them yet. I guess mardi gras will go on for days at our house. Thats ok, it keeps them happy. Whatever works, right? I'll be sure to take pictures of the final products.
So life is busy. Writing about homeschooling, homeschooling, not being able to drive my kids anywhere to making calls asking people to take them for me. (so NOT my idea of a good time). I'm starting to feel better tho, I have had a few days where I haven't felt any seizure symptoms. I hope one day it's EVERY day.
Today I am going to tackle my bedroom. I have managed to get the kitchen decluttered to where I can have it looking decent in a fairly short period of time. I still have TOO MUCH stuff in my bedroom. Today that is going to change one way or another, tho I don't know how. I need a way to store videos so we can find what we want when we want it. We have SO many.
another 45 min or so and the extra kids go home. katie is playing with them right now and keeping everyone happy. Thats working for me.
I love this grin...
